In “Homo Ludens” Huizinga examines the concept of play as an essential element in many manifestations of human culture, even as a component of competition, conflict, and war. However, in our era, the field of conflicts shifts from “rules of the game” to “total war.” In these unequal battles, the activists that this documentary follows give their own struggles against oppression, inequality, and environmental destruction on the planet for a hopeful future.
